The Culver City Council will be holding a public discussion about the use of single use carryout bags at t Monday night’s meeting. The community is urged to participate in the discussion.
The meeting will take place at City Hall at 7 p.m. in the council chambers. During the meeting, the City Council will be asked to provide direction to staff regarding restricting or otherwise discouraging the distribution of single use bags and the possible preparation of an ordinance for future Council consideration and related environmental documents.
The City of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County and the City of Santa Monica have already passed laws relating to the use of single carryout bags.
Several local organizations including the Ballona Creek Renaissance and Heal the Bay are pushing for a ban.
