For the past three years I have spent a fair amount of time volunteering for the AVPA Foundation. The Foundation supports the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts, one of the shining facets of the gem that is Culver City High School. I love the AVPA and the opportunities in Art, Dance, Film, Music & Theatre it provides our young people.
Thankfully, one of AVPA’s great partners is the Culver City Education Foundation. Their consistent sponsorship is one of the pillars keeping AVPA strong. Funds from CCEF help produce high-quality shows, and allow AVPA students to work with active, contemporary artists through the Front & Center Theatre Collaborative.
But what I love most about CCEF is their wide-ranging support of Culver City schools. Because in addition to helping AVPA artists, CCEF also funds math, literacy, science, and technology programs for our kids at the high school, Culver City Middle School, Culver Park high school, and all 5 elementary schools. Take a quick look at their website, ccef90230.org, to see a list of over 40 projects and programs funded by CCEF during the 2011-2012 school year.
The Culver City Education Foundation’s focus is wide, inclusive, and seeks to improve the educational experience of every student attending CCUSD schools. I enthusiastically endorse their work, and encourage my friends and neighbors to join me in donating to CCEF's “All For 1” campaign.
