Chiropractor Robert Rainey Brutally Beaten to Death

Los Angeles Police Department West Bureau Homicide Detectives are asking for the public’s help with providing any information that would lead to the suspect(s) responsible for the death of 54-year-old popular chiropractor Robert Rainey, 54, a resident of Culver City.

Rainey was found murdered inside his offices at 9225, Venice Boulevard in Palms.

On Thursday, May 31 at approximately 8:15 a.m., Pacific Area officers on the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a “Man Down” call. Upon arrival, officers observed the body of Rainey lying on the floor inside the office. Rainey had suffered severe head trauma and was transported to a local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Rainey’s body was found by a patient who had arrived at the Chiropractic office for their scheduled appointment. Upon entering the office, the patient saw Dr. Rainey lying on the office floor. The patient immediately called 911.

LAPD reports Rainey suffered a “severe head trauma,” had a broken jaw and missing teeth and while the motive is unknown they believe robbery may have been the cause, as Rainey’s wallet was missing.

Rainey was the brother of Los Angeles Times media Critic James Rainey and was active in local Culver City affairs. He was currently involved as a member of the Fiesta LaBallona Committee.

Anyone with information regarding the crime is asked to call LAPD West Bureau Homicide Unit at (213) 382-9470 or log on to the LAPD website at LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
