Fraiche to Close

Public School 612 will replace Fraiche Restaurant in downtown Culver City.

Fraiche which was once named “one of the 10 best new restaurants in the United States,” has suffered in recent years with the loss of Chef Jason Travi and Thierry Perez, both partners in the restaurant and the ill-timed expansion into Santa Monica when the owners opened a second location.

Public School is a modern craft beer pub and restaurant and is operated by Grill Concepts LLC which owns the Daily Grill. It currently operates one location at 6th & Flower Street in Downtown Los Angeles and opens daily at 4 pm. Its website bills it as “An Education in the Art of Food and Beer.”

While downtown restaurants and businesses which have closed in recent years have quickly reopened as a new business, Gyenari Korean Barbeque, which morphed into MoKo Restaurant, has remained closed for months.

Prospective buyers have cited the high rental rate as the primary reason for the restaurant remaining vacant. Next door to Fraiche, Sports For Eve was shuttered last week. Sports For Eve was located on the corner of Main Street and Culver Blvd next door to Fraiche.
