Westside Neighborhood School announces they are partnering with two dynamic summer programs from June 25-August 3.
All students in the community entering second through eighth grades (WNS and non-WNS students) can elect to participate in a new creative arts morning camp led by Kinetic Heads, which encourages campers to create visual pieces that are integrated into a theatrical performance presented at the culmination of each summer session on WNS’s brand new stage.
Iverbe Camp will offer an afternoon camp including sports, dance, cooking, and arts and crafts activities for students age 5-13. In addition, the morning WNS Summer Academy is back by popular demand, open to all WNS and non-WNS students entering second through eighth grades in the fall.
The Summer Academy aims to stretch reading, writing, math, collaboration, organization and study skills through engaging hands-on, project-based learning activities. The Summer Academy created such a buzz last year that students from around the world, from as far away as Latvia and Spain, were eager to participate.
Desiree Friedmann, Ph.D., Director of Summer Programs, explained, “These new partnerships will round out students’ summer experiences by not only providing the opportunity to stretch students’ brains, but also their bodies and hearts.”
Westside Neighborhood School is a DK-8th-grade independent school adjacent to Playa Vista, and serves elementary and middle school students from over 50 zip codes throughout the Los Angeles, Santa Monica and South Bay communities. For information visit the WNS website at www.wnsk8.com.
