Centaurs Tune Up with Non-League Games

Wisely, Culver City High schedules challenging non-league baseball games to prepare for the Ocean League.

The strategy worked last season when the Centaurs didn’t win the league championship but proceeded to win three playoff games, including two in Orange County.

Culver won eight of its first 10 games this season, including a pair of routs over Beverly Hills in league games.

Then the Centaurs lost three of four against formidable non-league foes.

The losses were 9-6 to Palos Verdes and a doubleheader to Capistrano Valley Christian, 1-0 and 4-3. The win was over Torrance, 3-2.

With school out for two weeks the Centaurs will play more non-league games. They’ll oppose Harvard-Westlake on April 11 and host West Torrance on April 14

Culver’s league competition resumes the following week with a pair of games against Hawthorne.
