Culver Wins First Two league Baseball Games

In its opening week of Ocean league play the Culver City High baseball team defeated Beverly Hills twice, 15-4 and 3-1.

In Tuesday’s game Tyler Mark struck out six batters in four innings before being relieved by Pablo Saucedo. Mark was three-for-three at the plate.

Jay Steiner also had three hits and drove in three runs

On Thursday, Brian Ibarra pitched five strong innings and Steiner worked the sixth and seventh.

Jon Kocker had two hits. George Aceves and Adrian Perez each had won.

On Saturday Culver lost a non-league game to Palos Verdes, 9-6 in the second round of the Redondo Tournament.

“We played solid defense and had good hitting and pitching during the week,” said Coach Rick Prieto.

Taking a break from league play the Centaurs will host Capistrano Valley Christian in a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 11 am.

The Centaurs had another non-league game against Torrance Wednesday but the result wasn’t known at press time.

Culver will resume league play April 17 against Hawthorne.
