Culver City State Senator Curren D. Price, Jr. issued the following statement on the announcement of the multi-state mortgage settlement which provided relief of $18 billion for Californians:
“In this mortgage settlement agreement with the federal government, Attorney General Kamala Harris showed that she is a real defender of California consumers. Painfully aware of how Californian homeowners have suffered as a result of the misdeeds of the banking industry, Harris refused to accept an initial offer that she believed was insufficient to help beleaguered homeowners.
“This is just a step in the right direction to provide assistance to California’s struggling homeowners, and the California Legislative Black Caucus will work with all stakeholders in an effort to create stronger protections for California consumers. “
Price is Chair of the California Legislative Black Caucus.
