During the day this Saturday (9 a.m.to 3 p.m.) enjoy browsing a great Yard Sale on the front lawn of the Culver City Scout House, 10866 Culver Blvd. There’ll be a vast array of goodies, including holiday decorations, toys and games, camping equipment and more. Then, on Saturday night, Grace Church will spotlight John Cannon, master of pipe organ performances. John has played at York Minister and Wells Cathedral in England and has been awarded scholarships and prizes for his excellence. Justly proud of its pipe organ, concert planners have promised that this Cannon will blow the roof off Grace Church! If you get this paper today, Thursday – don’t forget that this year the city-wide emergency drill formerly held on December 7, is tonight from 7 p.m. to 8. to coordinate with the California Great Shake-Out. Don’t forget to prominently display your “OK” sign for counting by roving CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) members, who will report the numbers and then participate in a drill at the City Yard on Jefferson Blvd.

Oh, yum. History, hors d’oeuvres and wine! The historic Culver Hotel, 9400 Culver Blvd in downtown Culver City will be the site of the next Culver City Chamber of Commerce Mixer, set for next Thursday, October 28 from 5 p.m. to 7. Attendees will get to enjoy the newly-redecorated and restored mezzanine lounge (even Huell Howser didn’t get in to report on, thankfully). General Manager Douglas Newton is inviting all Chamber members and their guests to enjoy not only the hotel’s ambience, but sample Executive Chef Michael Compean’s creations.
