“Not so Looney Tunes: A Century of Live Musical Entertainment in Culver City” will be presented by guest speaker Stephen M. Fry at the Culver City Historical Society’s fall general meeting on Wednesday, October 21, at 7 p.m. Fry will offer a descriptive survey of how music developed in Culver City and its surrounding areas.
Well-known for his jazz group, The Melody Masters, Fry has lived in Culver City since 1975. He is also a pianist who performs in several other jazz ensembles and as a solo artist. In 2001, he retired from UCLA where he served as head of the Music Library and as a music reference and collection development librarian. He has contributed articles for many journals, encyclopedias, and anthologies.
The public is welcome to enjoy this free program and students are encouraged to attend. The meeting will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room in the Veterans Memorial Building at 4117 Overland Avenue in Culver City. Entrance is through the back of the building near the parking lot, and through the ARC space.
