Culver Democratic Club Endorses

The Culver City Democratic Club has enthusiastically and unequivocally endorsed Measure EE.

In a voice vote by acclimation, the standing room only crowd unanimously voted to support the $96 parcel tax expected to bring in around $1.2 million annually to the Culver City Unified School District .

Eight-year Culver City Councilman and club veteran Gary Silbiger gave a rousing and elucidating nomination presentation, explaining “California is slashing education funding causing Culver City Schools to cut $6 million in the last two years and another $3 million estimated for the current school year. Yet, the 2008 California Democratic Party Platform views education as a top priority.

“The excellent Culver City schools that attracted my family to Culver City , and educated you and your children, is about to implode if a significant amount of money is not immediately found. At the same time, we expect the excellent high quality education that is given to all Culver City students.

“Just as we’ve learned from our city’s exceptional police and fire services, parks programs, and culture and arts, people are willing to spend a little extra in order to keep those essential programs alive. Vote Yes on EE.”

Measure EE will bring in approximately $1.2 million to the Culver City Unified School District annually for a period of five years, with all funds used to maintain current programs, without a penny going to administrative salaries.
