    11 Outage Santa Monica’s 911 system failed due to a software glitch. For 24 hours, some residents were not able to call Police, fire department or ambulances through 911. They were instead directed to call the non emergency number for the SMPD. Residents were informed of both the outage and its resolution, through the City’s text message system.
