  • Lawndale Self-Reported Violations To The CIF

    Mitch Chortkoff|Nov 5, 2015

By Mitch Chortkoff Sports Editor The reason Culver City High is suddenly close to becoming the 2015 Ocean League football champion is that Lawndale High has forfeited four victories, including league wins over Culver City and Santa Monica. Coupled with Culver’s victory over Hawthorne last Friday the Centaurs prevail in tiebreakers. With a win over Beverly Hills this Friday Culver would become the champion and most likely would receive a first round playoff home game. The South Bay Daily B...

  • Dear Editor

    Letters|Oct 29, 2015

Throughout this school board campaign one of the primary questions about Kelly Kent is Who is she? and What is her experience working with our Culver City schools? These are questions I am uniquely positioned to answer, and I believe that my perspective may be of benefit to the electorate, who are being asked to select candidates in our upcoming local election. For well over a year I have worked with Kelly day in and day out to jointly create the new Spanish language program at Lin Howe. From a...

  • Students Raise Interesting Issues At Candidates Forum

    Lynne Bronstein|Oct 22, 2015

By Lynne Bronstein Observer Reporter The second Culver City School Board's candidates' forum on October 14 had quite a different tone from the first one. It seemed a lot simpler to understand and much friendlier than most candidates' forums. Maybe that was because the questions lobbed at the candidates came from the stakeholders with the biggest concerns about school conditions-the students. The forum, held at West L.A. College's Fine Arts Auditorium, was produced by "Ask 2 Know," a program...

  • MOVIE REVIEW: BREAK POINT

    debbie lynn elias|Sep 6, 2015

It's Game, Set, Match for BREAK POINT! For many, the game of tennis can be as boring as watching paint dry, or a ball endlessly bounce. For others, it’s an exciting, riveting, emotionally charged sport with nuance, intelligence and skill. What that means is that making a film set in the world of tennis is pretty much going to align with one of those perceptions. In the case of BREAK POINT, it’s definitely the latter as co-writers Jeremy Sisto and Gene Hong together with director Jay Karas del...

  • Here's The Culver City High Football Preview

    Greg Goodyear|Aug 20, 2015

Last year Culver City High had a rare down year. It was the first time they missed the playoffs since 2001. Head coach Jahmal Wright feels we should turn it around this year. Although the Centaurs are young this year they do have some experienced seniors on the O-line and D-line. Every coach knows that a good football team lives and dies by how well their offensive and defensive lines do. Coach Wright and his O-line coach Ralph Oliver and D-line coach Brandon Patterson feel that they have a good group of quick footed, athletes that should play...
