    Firefighters from the Culver City Fire Department and Los Angeles County Fire Department along with water dropping helicopters made quick work of a blaze that threatened homes in Culver Crest and Ladera Heights Sunday Afternoon. About 100 firefighters were deployed to control the fire which was reportedly stated by a blown electrical transformer.     Charles "Smoke" Hicks, 24, of Culver City was sentenced Monday to five years probation and ordered to pay $2,000 in fines for scheming to bribe ex-Transportation Security Administration agents at Los Angeles International Airport to help smuggle marijuana onto a flight.     The Culver City Fire Department and Police Department responded recently to a shooting on Green Valley Circle in the Fox Hills area of Culver City. Initial reports indicate the victim committed suicide. It was the first reported suicide in Culver City this year. Last year there were four reported suicides.
