Three weeks ago, the Rams were in a dire situation to win the NFC West for the first time since the 2018 season. They were two games behind the Cardinals, but...

  • Supports Multi-Family Housing

    Letters|Dec 30, 2021

To the Editor: I'm writing in support of a campaign to significantly increase the number of new, affordable multi-family housing units in every neighborhood in town. My wife and I recently moved here from Arlington, VA. We moved to Fox Hills to be near her sister, and were dismayed by the rental price of the few apartments we could afford. Our income is above the CC average; we suspect that, excepting the most affluent, many families in town (especially those with children) are mortgaging their...

  • Build more Homes For Everyone

    Letters|Dec 30, 2021

I acknowledge our presence on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Gabrielino/Tongva peoples. When this is expressed, some people think, “so give your house back”. Maybe. Maybe we all do it so we live in a society that owns its atrocities. For now let’s start with more educational support for Native people and more just housing policy. When my kids were little I used to drive through Culver City to get them to daycare. Cruising at pedestrian safe speeds, I loved the trees...

    1

If you ever have the opportunity to hear the Los Angeles Doctors Symphony Orchestra, or attend another community-based arts performance, grab a friend and go. That’s what almost 400 people did just before Thanksgiving, when LADSO once again graced Culver City’s Veterans Memorial Auditorium with its first post-lockdown concert, “Awakenings.” The evening featured five invigorating works and tone poems by Copland, Dukas, R. Strauss, Vaughan Williams, and Respighi. Each short piece – some rarely he...

  • Chiefs overcome Chargers in overtime

    Bill Seals, Sports Reporter|Dec 30, 2021

There is a reason that the Kansas City Chiefs have won five consecutive AFC West division titles, two AFC conference championships and a Super Bowl title in the last few years. They have won these titles because they know how to win big games and their opponents often shoot themselves in the foot and leg in big games. Last Thursday night at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, the Chiefs showed that they have not forgotten how to win close games, and unfortunately, the Los Angeles Chargers showed that...

    Bill Seals, Sports Reporter|Dec 30, 2021

Seven teams from the AFC will make the playoffs this season and the Chargers are in the thick of the battle for one of the...

  • Aggies win in Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl caps an improbable run

    Eric Lambkins II, Sports Reporter|Dec 30, 2021

You don't go from 1-5 to 11-3 in a single year in college football. It simply does not happen. One would need a roster of relentless and exceptional players and a coaching staff capable of motivating and inspiring an army of lambs to face a pride of lions. A coach would need defensive players who enjoy when the offense turns the ball over, a nation-leading wide receiver committed to being the greatest ever, and a back-up quarterback who has never thrown a pass in a college game. Fortunately for...
