John Odom, 65, returned to his home in Redondo Beach last week after being released by his doctors. Odom, a Culver City High graduate, was severely injured at the Boston Marathon in April when two bombs were detonated. Karen Odom, also a graduate e of Culver City High, was present at the bombing but was uninjured. She has remained by her husband’s side ever since and has reported his recovery on facebook. Culver City will be safer thanks to a $33,000 grant from Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. and Fireman's Fund Insurance Company for new high-rise hose packs. High-rise hose packs are essential for fighting fires in multi-story buildings, large apartment complexes, and large buildings such as malls and other shopping centers. Dale Johnson, 46 of Los Angeles who was president and CEO of Synergy 2002 REI Inc. has pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud and one count of money laundering in connection with the purchase of multiple homes in Colorado. Synergy 2002 REI Inc. was based in Culver City. Federal authorities said the losses totaled $4.7 million. Wire fraud carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000. The lack of funding in our schools has always been an issue. When our two sons, who are now in their forties, attended Culver schools there were complaints about unfulfilled needs just as there is now.
