Police Blotter For July 9 through 15 Attempt Residential Burglary: On July 9 at 2 pm a victim came to the police department to report she was a victim of an attempted burglary. The victim said she locked and secured her residence in the 5900 block of Canterbury Drive on July 8 at 7 pm and remained inside for the evening. Culver Officers Rescue Dog, Arrest Owner Thomas Naylor, 62, remains in jail after being arrested for felony animal cruelty, drunk driving and driving without a license. On Friday Culver City Police officers rescued a pitbull named ‘Cruiser’ after Naylor, his owner, allegedly locked the dog in the truck then threw him to the sidewalk. Sewer Rates Scheduled To Rise The city plans to increase sewer rates on Culver City residents and business owners at a public hearing scheduled for July 22. The increase will raise sewer rates each year for the next three years with the increases averaging 4 percent per year. The city claims the increases are needed to adequately fund the cost of providing sewer services in the city.
