This year’s annual Culver City Historical Society Picnic and meeting on Wednesday, July 20 will be catered by the city’s Santa Maria Barbeque Restaurant. A dinner will be cooked in the picnic area in Veterans Memorial Park by the restaurant’s owner, Jim Rodrigues, who will demonstrate the special techniques that have made his Downtown Culver City eatery so popular. After a solid performance in the West LA College Passing Tournament, the Culver High football team traveled to the city of LaVerne for the Bonita Air Assault Passing Tournament last weekend. Culver City generally does very well in this tournament, except for the summer of 2010. It was in 2010 that the Centaurs lost their opening game in tournament play, falling into the loser’s bracket.
