Myers Contributing Editor The Culver City Elks Lodge has given a check for more than $6,000 to the California-Hawaii Elks Association to help provide vision-screening and physical therapy to children with a broad range of disabilities. The contribution increases the amount of money the two-state group has raised through the annual fund-raising effort to over $100 million since the yearly drives began in the 1950s. I wanted to add my concerns to Cary Anderson's regarding following the rules where it regards traffic incursion into the residential neighborhoods. For myself, it is not a matter of a rare instance of an organization holding a charitable event that brings outside traffic into my neighborhood. My block has had permit parking since 1982. Culver City Police arrested a sixth grader at his home in Culver City after they received reports that he brought a gun to Culver City Middle School. A parent of another student called and told police their child noticed another student with a gun at school that day. The student allegedly brandished the gun in one of the restrooms and pointed it at another student. Mark, who made all-league in four straight seasons, led the Centaurs to a 10-0 league record, the first time in school history a Culver High baseball team has gone undefeated in league games.
