By Neil Rubenstein Observer Columnist I see State Senator Rod Wright is awaiting sentencing by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Kennedy. This will allow Gardena Assembly Member Bradford to move up. By Mitch Chortkoff Sports Editor When Jim Fregosi died last week I was jolted into a trip down memory lane. I was fresh out of college in 1963 and had an ambition to become a sportswriter. I sent out resumes and received a call from Bud Furillo, sports editor of the Los Angeles Herald-Examiner. We set up an interview. He seemed to like the articles I had included from the college newspaper but he was a no-nonsense kind of guy. "I have a position for you but I know it isn't what you want," he...

With love and lust filling the air this Valentine's weekend, what better way to celebrate than with a fresh and funny romantic comedy that I like to describe as "raunchy likeable vulgarity." Without a doubt the funniest film of the year, Kevin Hart and Regina Hall make you laugh till you cry, or pee your pants, while Michael Ealy just steals your heart. ABOUT LAST NIGHT melds the hysterical outrageous comedy stylings of Hart and Hall with the warmth and tenderness of Ealy and Joy Bryant, all...
In my job as a real estate agent I often find myself talking to buyers who are considering somewhere on the westside to live. They are often not too familiar with all the nuances of the different cities and neighborhoods. When the conversation comes around to Culver City and Culver City Schools, it's the "local" and "small" features I spend some time discussing. I talk about how residents can feel they can make a difference in their community. This is somewhat more challenging if you happen to...
