    Many Reasons For Optimism Last year the Culver City Centaurs made a dramatic run through the CIF football playoffs, made it to the finals against Arroyo Grande and played them tough through three quarters.     By Mitch Chortkoff Sports Editor Twelve players from Culver City High’s 2012 Ocean League baseball championship team have graduated. As a result, Coach Rick Prieto is using the Centaurs’ summer league contests to inspect young players who hope to form the nucleus of next season’s team. The Centaurs annually participate in the South Bay Summer League against strong opposition.     After a solid performance in the West LA College Passing Tournament, the Culver High football team traveled to the city of LaVerne for the Bonita Air Assault Passing Tournament last weekend. Culver City generally does very well in this tournament, except for the summer of 2010. It was in 2010 that the Centaurs lost their opening game in tournament play, falling into the loser’s bracket.
