    Larry Weiner and Greg Goodyear|Apr 16, 2020

Last year Culver City football hit another historic milestone when they went to their third CIF Semi-Final in a row. Obviously, after the success of the CIF Championship of 2018, many people hoped for back-to-back championships and a State title. Unfortunately the Centaurs had an aberration, committing five turnovers during their semi-final loss to St. Paul thwarting their chance for a second straight CIF Divisional title. After the end of the season, the coaches met to vote on the All-Ocean...

On Saturday, the Centaurs returned for the tournament portion of the Bonita “Air Assault” passing contest with the officials determining the top seeds and who the Centaurs would play in the first round. The No. 1 seed was the Valencia Vikings and the No. 2 seed was the Hart Indians. Both schools compete in the same league and are bitter rivals but are unquestionably two of the best teams in Southern California. Since there were 30 teams in the tournament, the first two seeds received a bye in the first round. Culver City was undefeated in poo...

Ever since former Culver City High football head coach and current athletic director Tom Salter took over the football program in 1999 the varsity players have periodically staged a varsity verses alumni "7 on 7" game around the July 4th holiday. Because several of the alums playing college ball would come home at that time of year. It is a great tradition and a way of honoring the alums and having a super competitive game verses the varsity squad. Since many of the alums that come back are...

    Larry Weiner and Greg Goodyear|Oct 20, 2016

Two years ago Culver City lost 49-0 to the Santa Monica Vikings. Last year the Centaurs returned the favor by spanking Santa Monica by the same score. This year the Centaurs have a chance to secure a piece of the Ocean League title if they beat the Vikings on Senior Night and then finish their season with a win at Beverly Hills next Friday night against the winless Normans. Last week Culver City beat Hawthorne 62-35. Early in the fourth quarter we lead only 42-35 before rolling off 20...

After more than 60 years this 2016 historic matchup will finally take place this Friday night, September 30. Culver has played Dorsey in 7 on 7 summer tussles usually at Loyola High School and have done reasonable well against the Dons. Dorsey had been a long time city powerhouse under Paul Knox but the decision was made last year by...

  • An Early Look At Culver City Football

    Larry Weiner and Greg Goodyear|Aug 18, 2016

Head Coach Jahmal Wright is very excited about this year's Culver City High's defensive unit. The defense is lead by a plethora of fast, speedy athletes in the secondary, as well as some athletic newcomers on the defensive line. It seems like the linebackers will develop into a cohesive group blending returning players with some athletic newcomers. DEFENSIVE LINE: Jr. Justin Berry (6'2 215) will be a first time starter on defense but got honorable mention from the coaches as a sophomore OL. He...
