City-Wide Disaster Drill!

The City of Culver City will conduct its Annual City-Wide Disaster Drill on the evening of the California Great ShakeOut, October 16th. Celebrating 10 years of successful community participation and preparedness, we invite the media to come and observe us in action!

You have two opportunities to observe. The first, by patrolling city streets and seeing neighborhoods post their “OK” signs in windows and doorways most visible from the public right-of-way in an effort to communicate to first responders whether they are “OK” or not and second, by observing our fantastic CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) volunteers in action as they render first aid and conduct search and rescue operations.

At 6:45 pm, CERT members will be notified via our Emergency Notification System, Nixle, that they are to stage in the parking lot of the Boy Scouts of America building, 10866 Culver Blvd., to await instructions. Disaster scenarios have been set-up throughout the designated neighborhood. Our CERT Team will then mobilize (by foot) into a nearby neighborhood to render aid and conducet rescue operations.

For more information the night of the drill, please contact me at 310-678-7442 and/or our CERT Vice President, Joel Falter, who will be at the staging area at 310-738-8636.
